Harshith K. Guruswamy

PhD researcher

I am interested in studying antimicrobial drug resistance and developing novel strategies to combat infection. I also seek inspiration from nature to combat the growing threat of antimicrobial resistance.

I am currently studying why chimpanzees use insects for wound healing and whether the antimicrobial properties of these insects can lead to new methods for controlling infections. In my previous work, I studied the effects of quinones from Tribolium castaneum on its microbiome, which aids my current research on understanding wound care behavior in chimps using insects.
