M.Sc. Biology student
I am interested in social insects and how they adapt behaviourally and ecologically to the challenges of living in a society. One of the biggest challenges for social organisms is maintaining health, as the spreading of diseases gets more likely when many individuals live in close proximity. My main focus is social wound care and the role it plays for social immunity.
My current study organisms are bumblebees and honeybees of Central Europe, which I am investigating for my Master’s thesis on the context of social wound care. This work contributes to a broader understanding of insect behaviour and social wound care and immunity across hymenopterans. Previously, for my Bachelor’s thesis, I studied wound care in the symbiosis of Pseudomyrmex ants and their Acacia tree host.
